Man arrested for allegedly slapping six-year-old boy at Singapore's Jurong mall playground

SINGAPORE: A 38-year-old man was arrested for allegedly slapping a six-year-old boy at a shopping mall in Jurong.

The police said that they received a call for assistance at 3 Gateway Drive, where Westgate mall is located, at about 2.40pm on Dec 22.

The man was subsequently arrested for voluntarily causing hurt with enhanced penalties for offences against person below 14 years of age, said the police, adding that investigations are ongoing.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that it was alerted to the incident at about 3.20pm.

The boy was taken conscious to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.
