Two military police officers in Cambodia's Takeo province arrested for taking bribes from drug traffickers

PHNOM PENH (Xinhua): A military police deputy chief and another officer in southern Cambodia's Takeo province were arrested last week for accepting bribes from drug traffickers and illegal gamblers, a National Military Police spokesperson said on Monday.

Brigadier General Eng Hy said the two suspects were "caught for taking bribes in exchange for not cracking down on a seven-kg drug case and illegal gambling, as well as for leaking the secret of the investigation," he said in a press statement.

Hy added that the two suspects were sent to the Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) on Sunday for further legal action. - Xinhua
