Vietnam's foreign trade up 15.4% in 2024


HANOI: Vietnam posted a foreign trade record of US$786.29 billion in 2024, up 15.4 per cent year-on-year with a trade surplus of US$24.77 billion, according to statistics released by the General Statistics Office on Monday (Jan 6).

Specifically, the export revenue stood at US$405.53, up 14.3 per cent, while the import revenue surged 16.7 per cent to US$380.76 billion.

Eight items including electronics, computers, phones and components posted export revenue of over US$10 billion, accounting for 69 per cent of the total.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phan Thi Thang said improving the operational efficiency and the competitiveness of industrial production businesses would be one of the key measures to boost export growth in 2025.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Vo Van Hung said that the ministry would continue to closely coordinate with other departments, including the Ministry of Industry and Trade, to promote agricultural, forestry and fishery export in the coming years. - Xinhua
