THESE days if its Tamil movies and music, the first name that will etch in fans minds is by far is Anirudh Ravichander, the young man who is breaking new grounds after new grounds with his electrifying rock music that has won many fans and at the same time perplex admirers with his new wave style.
And the superstar of Tamil music is now all set to enthrall the Malaysian fans with his Hukum World Tour at the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil on Jan 31.
The return of Anirudh to Malaysia since his last appearance in 2022 also sees all the best of Indian music superstars in Malaysia shores over the last five months.
A.R. Rahman started the ball rolling followed by Hip Hop Tamizha who were then followed by Bollywood ace Arijit Singh and the year ended in such style with GV Prakash belting out his super hits in December at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil.
And what a start to 2025, with Anirudh ending his Hukum World Tour event in Malaysia.
The supremely talented music composer has been captivating his fans with dynamic live shows during the Hukum World Tour that also saw performances in US, London, Dubai, Sydney, Melbourne, Singapore and now in Malaysia.
His show at the London O2 Arena was said one of the best seen and most appreciated by fans all over Europe.
In March 2023, the Indian music star wowed fans in Singapore with a concert featuring a 360-degree stage – the first for an Indian rock concert here – at Singapore Indoor Stadium. Anirudh then repeated the feat in November last year during the Hukum World Tour with an appearance that saw a full house attendance at the Singapore stadium again.
He is set to repeat that feat, this time with a concert that is part of his Hukum World Tour, in Malaysia.
The singer, composer and producer, whose songs have clocked more than 2.2 billion streams on Spotify, is set to perform hits such as Hukum from the soundtrack of 2023 Tamil action comedy Jailer. He composed the original score for the film that starred Tamil movie icon Rajinikanth.
He is also a trailblazer last year with songs for movies like Devaraa, Indian 2, Vettaiyaan and Hindi movie Bade Miyaan Chite Miyaan,
Who would have even thought of using AI in his music for a blockbuster movie featuring the superstar himself, Rajnikanth. Anirudh did just that when he introduced the song 'Manasilaayo' for the movie Vettaiyan, which enthralled so many fans as music legend Malaysian Vasudavan's voice was heard in that number.
The concert in Malaysia is brought to fans by Malaysian outfit MM Morgan. Led by music enthusiast Daisy Morgan and her partners, Gina Soman. Lazshana Parthiban and Zuleika Marie Gomez, the organisers are promising an event that will not be forgotten by Indian music fans.
"This is a great honour for us and also Malaysia, as Anirudh has chosen KL to close down his highly followed and popular Hukum World Tour. This concert will feature all his best songs and also current hits with super background support. The stage itself is going to be one spectacular effort from all of us," said Daisy, who is also the leading officer for the 9Skin products, a cosmetic and beauty set up with Indian superstar actor Nayanthara.
"We are hoping for a full turnout for the event which will be a one-of-a-kind concert that will not forget for a long time."
Organisers are hoping to see a full turnout at the 10,000 capacity venue and tickets sales are so far brisk with more than 70% of tickets sold. The event is also supported by sponsors Thamarai Jewellers, Starbucks, Erawan Security, Terra Entertainment, Kaara Saaram, WCHEM and 9Skin.
"We will also be sponsoring around 10 orphanages with invites for them to visit and see the show. We now hope Malaysian fans will join us for an amazing show that will captivate all fans."
For the record, Anirudh is now one of the most prominent music-makers in contemporary Indian cinema, Anirudh shot to fame when his debut song 'Why This Kolaveri Di' for the 2012 film 3 went viral. It has clocked more than 485 million views on YouTube.
He has since won numerous accolades for his songs and soundtrack work, including 10 at the South Indian International Movie Awards, six at the Edison Awards, five at the Vijay awards and two at the Filmfare Awards South.
In 2016, he signed a record deal with Sony Music, which publishes his independent albums and live concerts.[6] In the same year, he featured with Diplo on the remix of Major Lazer's hit single "Cold Water".
Besides 'Why This Kolaveri Di' his famous suoer hit Tamil songs includes 'Chennai City Gangsta, 'Sirikkadhey' 'Vaathi Coming' and of course 'Hukum' for the super blockbuster movie 'Jailer'. The first single of Vikram titled "Pathala Pathala" received several million views from fans. His songs composed for the Shahrukh Khan super blockbuster 'Jawan' is also unforgettable to this date.
He is also set to collaborate with Ajith Kumar for his 62nd film Vidaamuyarchi this year directed by Magizh Thirumeni. That effort also marks his third collaboration with Ajith after Vedalam and Vivegam.
