YANGON: Myanmar's police have seized 700,000 stimulant tablets in Shan state and Mandalay region, according to the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) on Tuesday (Jan 14).
Acting on a tip-off, a joint anti-narcotic task force intercepted a vehicle in Taunggyi township of Shan state on Jan. 4 and confiscated 400,000 stimulant tablets.
Under the follow-up investigation, 300,000 additional stimulant tablets were seized in Thazi township of Mandalay region on Jan. 5, it said.
The seized drugs had a street value of 650 million kyats (about US$309,000), it added.
The suspects who were involved in the case were charged under the country's law, and further investigations are ongoing, the CCDAC said. - Xinhua
