WASHINGTON: The White House said Friday (Jan 31) that a federal law enforcement agency has arrested a South Korean national convicted of possession or control of material depicting minors in sexually explicit conduct, as it underscored an ongoing nationwide immigration crackdown.
During a press briefing, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt provided information on arrests of foreign nationals by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), an agency under the Department of Homeland Security.
"On Jan 28, 2025, ICE Atlanta arrested a citizen of South Korea who has been convicted of nine counts of possession or control of material depicting minors in sexually explicit conduct," she said.
The White House posted related information on X, saying that the person was sentenced to five years in jail and 20 years' probation.
