VIENTIANE: A direct air route linking northern Laos' Luang Prabang province and Kunming in southwest China has been launched to enhance connectivity and strengthen the relationship between the two countries.

The launching ceremony, held at Luang Prabang International Airport on April 1, was attended by Deputy Governor of Luang Prabang province Bounleum Manivong and guests from both Laos and China, Lao national TV reported on Friday (April 4).

This route aims to boost economic, trade, cultural, and tourism exchanges, offering Chinese tourists an opportunity to explore the town of Luang Prabang, a Unesco World Heritage site known for its natural beauty and rich culture.

The flights will operate three times a week, with a 1.5-hour journey connecting Luang Prabang and Kunming. - Xinhua
