PHNOM PENH: A group of online scammers attempted a daring rooftop escape during an anti-scam operation in Svay Rieng on Thursday (Aug 20), but officers were too quick for them.

Officers detained 110 suspects in raids across a private home and a guesthouse in Chek village, Samraong commune, Chantrea district.

Same day raids on properties in Phnom Penh’s Koh Pich saw seven people detained for alleged scam activities, while routine visa checks led to Tboung Khmum provincial police officers arresting four foreigners for drug possession.

The Svay Rieng operation led to the detention of 91 Vietnamese, including 15 women, 14 Chinese men and five Cambodians, including one woman. A large quantity of evidence was also seized.

The premises have been temporarily sealed while court cases are prepared for the suspects.

On the same day, combined forces in Tboung Khmum province conducted routine visa checks at five locations in Trapeang Phlong commune, Ponhea Kraek district. They identified 20 foreign nationals, one without a passport.
