THE partnership between Toyota Industries Corp (Tico) of Japan and UMW Industries (1985) Sdn Bhd (UMWI) has helped UMWI dominate the material handling equipment market in Malaysia.
The Toyota market share in this sector was 58% in 2002 and 64% in the year to August 2003. And according to UMWI general manager Lee Chin Min, “we are actually happy with anything above 50%”.
