Malaysia's Sona to have management control over Thai oil field


PETALING JAYA: Sona Petroleum Bhd will have management control over the Thai oil field it is buying into, says the special purpose acquisition company’s vice-president of business development Datuk Saw Choo Boon.

“Salamander Energy (Bualuang) Ltd (SEBG) is the operator of the two blocks – B8/38 and G4/50. Subject to the approvals of the authorities and our shareholders, upon completion of the proposed acquisition Sona will own 66.67% of the economic rights of SEBG. We intend to meet the requirements of management control in the operations of the blocks.
