Westports to study effect of blocked P3 alliance

PETALING JAYA: Westports Holdings Bhd will conduct a study on the impact of the P3 shipping alliance or network which was recently blocked by China, but expects it would not have a material impact on its throughput, going forward.

The formation of the global shipping P3 alliance comprising Maersk Line, Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC) and CMA CGM – Europe’s three biggest shipping companies that collectively control close to 50% of Asia-Europe shipping trade – was supposed to marginally reduce the number of calls of CMA CGM to Westports.
