US light crude oil had fallen from nearly US$100 per barrel from July 2014 to just below US$45 at midday on Monday.
He also reiterated the government did not have plans to impose capital controls. The ringgit had weakened against the major currencies and recently it hit fresh 1998 lows against the US dollar.
