TM’s Zamzamzairani named CEO of The Year

KUALA LUMPUR: Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) has emerged as the big winner at the Malaysia-Asean Corporate Governance Transparency Index, Findings and Recognition (The Malaysian Chapter) 2015 organised by the Minority Shareholder Watchdog Group (MSWG). 

Its group CEO Tan Sri Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa was named CEO of the Year in recognition of his outstanding leadership in corporate governance practices. 

He topped the criteria of a CEO that is visionary, dynamic, demonstrates strong entrepreneurial skills that helm the corporate governance; performance; environmental, social and governance (ESG) and diversity agenda for the company as well as the broader capital market throughout the year for TM group.

TM swept annual corporate governance (CG) awards for five categories, namely: 

1. Top Ten CG Disclosure Merit Recognition 
2. Top CG Overall Recognition 
3. Long term value creation (10 years)
4. Exemplary AGM Conduct & Minutes
5. Industry Excellence - Telecommunications & Media

“The board of directors and all warga TM are indeed very proud when Zamzamzairani was honoured with this most coveted CEO of the Year award. Under his stewardship, TM has embarked on various initiatives towards upholding strong ethics and uncompromising integrity while practicing good corporate governance," chairman Tan Sri Dr Sulaiman Mahbob said in a statement.

“Zamzamzairani has always been at the forefront in championing the company’s pledge to ensure the integrity of its processes, people and reputation as well as the sustainability of its operations. 

"At TM, corporate governance remains ingrained in every aspect of the organisation and the practice of good corporate governance continues to be strengthened in line with national as well as the Company’s aspirations.” . 

He said TM, under the leadership of Zamzamzairani, the group had undergone the demerger in 2008, rolled out one of the world’s fastest and most cost efficient high speed broadband network and launched UniFi, the nation’s first triple play services in 2010, in a historic collaboration with the Government of Malaysia. 

“In 2015, TM has graduated top of the class in the conclusion of the 10 year GLC Transformation Programme; delivering total shareholder return of 316% since demerger, industry-beating revenue growth rates and the highest employee engagement index scores over the last few years. 

“TM in now on its next transformation trajectory from Malaysia’s broadband champion into becoming Malaysia’s convergence champion and its vision to make life and business easier, for a better Malaysia,” Sulaiman added.
