Damage to Poh Huat’s Vietnam factory totals RM9mil


KUALA LUMPUR: The total net book value of Poh Huat Resources’ damaged factory in Vietnam following the August 23 fire incident amounts to RM9mil. 

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the company said the total net book value of the damaged factory buildings together with the plant and machinery are RM2.89mil while damaged stocks are RM6.12mil.

This is in relation to the fire incident at one of the manufacturing  base belonging to Poh Huat Furniture Industries Vietnam Joint Stock Company on Aug 23, 2015.

Poh Huat had on Sept 17 submitted a fire claim of US$3.62mil (RM15.57mil) to Bao Minh Insurance Corp, and is preparing the fire consequential loss claim.

“The Company wishes to inform that the appointed adjusters, Crawford Vietnam Co Ltd, has proposed an interim payment of VND22bil (RM3.83mil) for the fire damage claim. The Company had received the first portion of VND11bil on Dec 11, 2015 and the second portion of VND11bil on Dec 23, 2015,” it said.

It added that the total settlement of the claim is pending finalisation.
