MPay Mobile to provide MVNO services by year end

KUALA LUMPUR: Managepay Systems Bhd’s (MPay) joint-venture company, MPay Mobile Sdn Bhd, has received an applications service provider class licence, ASP(C), from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission.

The ASP licence is valid for one year from Oct 11,  2017, and is renewable annually, MPay said.

In a statement to Bursa Malaysia on Monday, MPay said that with the licence, MPay Mobile had become the latest mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) in Malaysia, supporting a wide spectrum of services to the public nationwide, including GSM, GPRS, 3G and 3.5G, and the latest high-speed broadband 4G network.

It said MPay Mobile would work with Enabling Asia Tech Sdn Bhd (EA) to set up the network platform connectivity, customer provisioning and billing, product offering and packaging configuration, including MCMC regulatory and connectivity services.

EA is a mobile virtual network aggregator, which has a wholesale MVNO agreement with one of four network operators in Malaysia, offering a complete network product and services to MVNOs, it said.

It said MPay Mobile intended to launch the MVNO mobile package by year-end, adding that the package would come equipped with secure financial technology solution to provide MPay eMoney banking account access and MPay MasterCard Prepaid Card payment capability to customers through their handset devices.

The package aims to bring more convenience and accessibility for customers located in remote areas with difficulty to access bank branches or those who intend to migrate from traditional to online and mobile banking, MPay said. - Bernama
