Seacera receives bumiputra-controlled status


In its filings with Bursa Malaysia, Yong Tai said its wholly-owned subsidiary YTB Impression Sdn Bhd terminated the deal due to non-fulfilment of the condition precedent as stated in clause 3.1(c) of the joint development agreement. Yong Tai fell half a sen to close at 32.5 sen yesterday.

KUALA LUMPUR: Seacera Group Bhd has been approved as a bumiputra-controlled public listed (BPLC) company, enabling it to participate in the tender exercise of government projects allocated for bumiputra companies.

The group said it received a letter from the Ministry of International Trade and Indusry allocating it the status for a period of one year. 

"As a BPLC, the Company is recognised by the Government of Malaysia (“Government”) as part of the effort initiated by the Government to provide opportunity to the bumiputra community which at the same time enhancing the value of our business partners," it said in a filing on Tuesday.

To maintain its BPLC status, Seacera is required to maintain a minimum of 35% ownership of its voting rights with bumiputra shareholders.
