Sapura Energy bags two supplier awards from Brazil's Petrobras

Companies that provide short-term consumer loans at high interest rates are on the increase in countries like Indonesia and the Philippines as many people struggle to get advances through traditional channels such as banks.

KUALA LUMPUR: Sapura Energy Bhd clinched two awards at Brazilian state-controlled oil company Petróleo Brasileiro SA's Best Suppliers Recognition Award 2017 held in Rio de Janeiro recently.

In a statement today, the oil and gas solutions provider said it bagged Best Pipe Layer Operator for flexible pipe lay works in ultra-deepwater operations and was a joint recipient of the Best Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Management award.

The awards were received through its joint-venture company in Brazil, Sapura Navegação Marítima.

Sapura Energy President and Group Chief Executive Officer, Tan Sri Shahril Shamsuddin, attributed the wins to the team's outstanding performance, commitment and relentless focus on HSE, technical competence onshore and offshore, and team spirit.

“Sapura Energy made its mark in the flexible pipe lay sector seven years ago and has been successful in building a strong presence in Brazil. We wish to thank Petrobras for its confidence in our capabilities and are confident that our partnership will bring mutual successes,” he said.

Sapura Energy currently operates six pipe-laying support vessels for offshore ultra-deepwater flexible pipe lay work in the pre-salt regions of the South American country.

Sapura Brazil was among the 17 suppliers selected for Petrobras' awards based on its operational performance, safety record, as well as integrity and compliance assurance practices.

Petrobras, which works with about 5,500 active vendors at present, honoured eligible suppliers in 13 categories this year. - Bernama
