Borneo Aqua Harvest yields first gold dore bar in Tawau

Trade in gold is widely authorised and regulated in many markets unlike cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin.

KUALA LUMPUR: Borneo Aqua Harvest Bhd has successfully commissioned its gold processing plant and yielded its maiden gold dore bar from its mining project in Tawau, Sabah.

It said on Wednedsay following the successful commissioning of the gold processing plant, it started its commercial production of gold.

To recap, in June 2013, it had teamed up with Southsea Gold Sdn Bhd to mine for various minerals and commercialisation of such minerals on a 200-acre site in Bukit Mantri, Tawau.

Southsea Gold holds a prospecting licence from the Sabah Lands and Surveys Department to prospect and explore minerals, namely zinc, lead, copper, gold, silver and other base metals.

According to Wikipedia, a dore bar is a semi-pure alloy of gold and silver, usually created at the site of a mine. The bar is then transported to a refinery for further purification. The proportions of silver and gold can vary widely. Doré bars weigh as much as 25kg.
