China's egg futures hit three-year high as pork prices surge


The most-actively traded egg contract jumped nearly 4% earlier in the day to 4,925 yuan ($697.44) a tonne, the highest since July 2016. It was last up 2.95% at 4,884 yuan.

SHANGHAI: Egg futures on China's Dalian Commodity Exchange rose to their highest in more than three years on Monday, in a move analysts tied to sharp gains in pork prices after disease devastated the country's hog herd.

The most-actively traded egg contract jumped nearly 4% earlier in the day to 4,925 yuan ($697.44) a tonne, the highest since July 2016. It was last up 2.95% at 4,884 yuan.
