Manufacturing drives February industrial output higher


On a year-on-year basis, the manufacturing sector output rose by 5.6% in February after growing 2.2% in January 2020.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s industrial production index (IPI) increased at a much faster pace of 5.8% in February 2020 from a year ago, boosted by stronger manufacturing growth.

Chief statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin said the IPI growth in February was driven by the increase of indices in all sectors, index of electricity (6.8%), mining (6.1%) and manufacturing (5.6%).
