MEOA urges govt to exempt plantations from halt of new workers


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Estate Owners’ Association (MEOA) has asked the government to exempt the plantation industry from the freeze in hiring of new foreign workers, and allow those on home leave to return.

In a statement on Saturday, the MEOA said plantation industry relies almost exclusively on foreign workers for field work, especially in harvesting oil palm fruit bunches.
