Pharma stocks climb, glove makers mixed


While the KLCI lost ground, the broader market was firmer with gains in penny stocks and selected stocks. Even Bahvest Resources climbed as gold crossed US$2,000 an ounce.

KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia closed Wednesday on a firmer note despite a retreat in the FBM KLCI as investors chased after pharmaceutical stocks and gold miner Bahvest while glove makers saw mixed trade.

At 5pm, the KLCI was down 7.81 points or 0.5% to 1,568.13. Turnover was heavy with 15.57 billion shares valued at RM8.26bil. The broader market was firmer with 797 gainers to 390 losers and 331 counters unchanged.
