Airbus to lose over US$5bil in orders under AAX’s revamp

Trying times: AAX reveals that it owes Airbus RM48.71bil including predelivery payments for committed purchase of 118 aircraft. — Reuters

KUALA LUMPUR: Aircraft manufacturer Airbus SE stands to lose more than US$5bil worth of aircraft orders if AirAsia X Bhd’s (AAX) debt restructuring scheme goes through, according to court documents, joining a dozen creditors that have challenged the low-budget carrier’s plan.

Airbus’ challenge comes as AAX defended its scheme from key lessor BOC Aviation Ltd’s (BOCA) allegations that it favoured Airbus and lacked a debt-to-equity swap offer for creditors.
