OCIM to invest RM228mil to boost capacity at Sarawak plant


According to OCIM website, 90% of the world’s solar cells that are used mainly for the domestic environment use Poly-Si produced by its plant in Sarawak.

KUCHING: OCIM Sdn Bhd plans to invest about US$55mil (RM228mil) to expand the production capacity of its solar grade (SoG) polysilicon (Poly-Si) plant in Samalaju Industrial Park in Bintulu, Sarawak.

The debottlenecking initiative is expected to boost the group’s annual capacity by 5,000 to 35,000 tonnes from the current 30,000 tonnes by the second half of 2022.
