Strong tanker freight rates likely this year

KUALA LUMPUR: MISC Bhd may be a potential beneficiary of the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, as the conflict is likely to lead to a strong and sustainable increase in tanker freight rates this year.

In the two weeks following the Russia-Ukraine conflict, CGS-CIMB Research said the Aframax crude tanker freight rates had spiked at Russian export ports around the Black, Baltic and North seas.
