RHB: OPR likely to go up by 25 bps in 2H

KUALA LUMPUR: RHB Bank Bhd has maintained its view that Bank Negara would increase the overnight policy rate (OPR) by 25 basis points (bps) to 2% in the second half of 2022 (2H22) with the guidance being given at the central bank’s May 11 monetary policy meeting.

It said the central bank would also decide on its OPR hike based on the April core consumer price index data on May 25 as well as further evidence that slack in the economy is falling, the firm uptrend on real wages and the impact on the trajectory of growth and inflation
