KUALA LUMPUR: The airasia Super App has partnered with over 50 key hotel groups from Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines to help strengthen the application’s position as one of the region’s fastest-growing online travel and lifestyle platforms.

Capital A Bhd, the holding company of the AirAsia Aviation Group, said the partnerships would allow the app to offer customers an extensive array of hotel options to choose from according to their budget.

airasia Super App chief executive officer (CEO) Amanda Woo said the direct hotel partners are able to leverage AirAsia’s strong brand presence and connectivity network.

"This enables airasia Super App to avail more marketing opportunities and visibility for each hotel partner while offering them extremely competitive rates,” she said during the mass signing ceremony here today.

Woo said the hotel platform offers consumers a choice of over 700,000 hotels worldwide, the ability to earn and redeem AirAsia points, and even to pair their flights and hotel bookings in one seamless transaction via SNAP -- its hotel and flight combination package.

"airasia Super App’s hotel booking platform will also guarantee the best hotel prices on the platform, with a best price guaranteed scheme which will be launched very soon, aside from special members’ rates,” she said.

Capital A CEO Tan Sri Tony Fernandes said the COVID-19 pandemic cannot be viewed as an obstacle to the re-growth of the tourism and aviation industry in Malaysia and globally.

He said the tourism industry, which is closely related to the aviation sector, needs to be revived more quickly after a gloomy two-year period.

"The move to open borders and continue tourism and business operations as usual is necessary at the global level for the comprehensive recovery of the industry, including Capital A.

"When the travel industry was in full force, we were flying 100 million guests just on the AirAsia network alone, which translates into a valuable customer base.

"This customer base is something that no other online travel agent (OTA) can offer aside from the airasia Super App because we are the only travel super app that also owns an airline group,” he said.

Fernandes said it is crucial to reinforce the group’s hotel booking platform in view of the current travel revival and the super app’s capability as an OTA.

"And this is what we’d like to re-emphasise to our hotel partners -- by being on the airasia Super App’s hotel booking platform, you will be able to leverage a natural pool of rich and robust travellers base, and together we can offer customers an enhanced travel experience in one seamless app.

"It’s all about having a complete travel ecosystem that would create better value for our customers. And being an OTA which owns an airline allows us to offer products such as SNAP, creating better uptake for our hotel partners while providing travellers with a better booking experience,” he added. - Bernama
