KUALA LUMPUR: National research commercialisation agency, the Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology and Innovation (MRANTI), has launched the MRANTI Park Master Plan, in an effort to serve as an important bridge for transition and a successful model for domestic and foreign cooperation.
Under the master plan, MRANTI is targeting a gross development value of RM20bil, with returns from land leases valued at RM2.8bil.
MRANTI Park, located within the city and only 15km away from Bandar Malaysia, is touted to offer substantial value to potential investors and innovators alike with its Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR4.0) Innovation Hub.
It is also one of the first innovation parks to be fully supported by 5G infrastructure.
MRANTI Park will be developed in three phases on three precincts and anchored by three principles: Innovation, sustainability and progressive culture across the five clusters of green tech, biotech, smart manufacturing, agritech and IR4.0 technologies.
The three precincts include the Learning and Creative Media precinct, which spans 191 acres and hosts creative and education institutions such as Astro and Asia Pacific University, the 105-acre Innovation Gateway precinct, where the MRANTI Headquarters is located and finally, the Living Lab precinct, which is a new development area.
Covering 286 acres, the Living Lab precinct will include Area57, an integrated healthcare cluster, data centres, bio+agritech hub and smart manufacturing, while the remaining land area will be developed with the required infrastructure and utilities.
The implementation of the master plan will adhere to design and development approaches, such as long-term thinking and planning, in order to ensure that MRANTI Park will be systematic and well-developed in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
At the same time, it will introduce various measures in the near future in the aim to create 8,000 jobs.
Amongst others, the park will utilise a compact cluster approach to harmonise various technology segments for environmental and social well-being, so as to achieve its environmental, social and governance targets.
At MRANTI Park, researchers, creators and innovators will be brought together to nurture ideas into industry-changing products and services.
Positioned as the centre of activity for collaboration, MRANTI Park will serve as a springboard for new ideas and creative solutions that can be accelerated for commercialisation – reason being that co-location is important to reinvigorate the innovation ecosystem.
Due to its advantageous location and focused mandate, MRANTI Park has all the ingredients needed to become a global innovation hub.
At present, it is ready to accept innovators and strategic investors.
“We believe the implementation of the master plan will boost the influx of domestic and foreign investors, talent and technology development, as well as research and commercialisation activities from the public and corporate sectors that will be more focused and centralised,” said MRANTI chief executive officer Dzuleira Abu Bakar.
