DRB-Hicom: No notification received from Syed Mokhtar on strategic review

KUALA LUMPUR: DRB-Hicom Bhd said it has not received any notification from Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Albukhary Syed Nor that he is conducting a strategic review on the company.

"The company further confirms that it has not received any notice of a buyout offer,” the conglomerate said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today.

This was in response to a report by Bloomberg, quoting unnamed sources, that Syed Mokhtar was in talks with potential advisers on options that could involve a buyout of the firm. The article was carried by a few local media.

DRB-HICOM said that if there is any development in the above matter, it will make the appropriate announcement to Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd in a timely manner in accordance with the Main Market Listing Requirements.

Syed Mokhtar currently owns a 55.9 per cent stake in DRB-HICOM through Etika Strategi Sdn Bhd. - Bernama
