Public Bank empowers customers to protect themselves against fraud, scams

KUALA LUMPUR: Public Bank Bhd has taken steps to empower and educate customers on ways to protect themselves against fraud and scams through a Scam Awareness Initiative at Pavilion Bukit Jalil.

In a statement today, the bank said the initiative, which ran from Nov 25 to Dec 26, 2022, was part of its efforts to provide customers with a safe and secure banking environment.

"We have stationed well-trained staff on-ground to ensure that the public is continuously equipped with the necessary information on the different types of modus operandi involving frauds and scams,” it said.

Public Bank managing director and chief executive officer Tay Ah Lek said the online banking safety of its customers remained the top priority.

"The bank is extending efforts to reach out to educate and assist the public on scam-related concerns through this initiative.

"We have taken further steps by providing 24-hour assistance to customers via the bank’s case management unit,” he said.

In line with the banking industry's National Scam Awareness Campaign launched on Oct 30, 2022, the bank has prepared digital and non-digital materials to raise customers’ awareness of the importance of staying vigilant and understanding the different modus operandi involving fraud and scams. - Bernama
