Emico plant catches fire in Penang

PETALING JAYA: Emico Holdings Bhd says a fire incident has occurred at one of the manufacturing plants of Emico Penang Sdn Bhd, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the group.

The affected factory is located in Bayan Lepas, Penang, Emico said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia yesterday.

The assets damaged in the incident are covered by insurance, it added. The fire started at 3am on Jan 8.

The damages caused by the fire had affected amongst others, the stocks in transit area, packaging and office area as well as a Tenaga Nasional Bhd sub-station. The company is mitigating the production disruption by expediting the appointment of contractors as well as rescheduling the shipment of goods.
