Strong response from MSMEs to Maxis outreach plan

Maxis said the structured digital marketing programme to help entrepreneurs develop a stronger digital presence has attracted more than 2,400 local entrepreneurs, since its launch in March 2021, via 39 workshops delivered both physically and virtually nationwide.

PETALING JAYA: Maxis Bhd’s community outreach programme, the eKelas Usahawan, has been seeing strong participation from micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), particularly women entrepreneurs, in adopting digitalisation for their businesses.

In a statement, Maxis said the structured digital marketing programme to help entrepreneurs develop a stronger digital presence has attracted more than 2,400 local entrepreneurs, since its launch in March 2021, via 39 workshops delivered both physically and virtually nationwide.

The programme comprises a series of digital marketing workshops with a practical and hands-on approach to equip entrepreneurs with basic digital marketing knowledge and skills.

Maxis added that the programme is a part of its social responsibility to support the Bottom 40 communities through greater digital adoption.

Maxis chief corporate affairs officer Mariam Bevi Batcha said the company is looking forward to scaling up the programme further next year, so that more entrepreneurs can learn on the benefits of digitalisation.

“We have very simple yet effective modules that cover tips and basic skills on marketing, digital photography, copywriting and planning for marketing and advertising campaigns via online and social media platforms,” she said.

Maxis said the programme had received positive feedback from the participants.

Azliza Rumainor, from Kelantan, said through the programme, she has not only gained knowledge on digitalisation skills and online advertising, but also was guided on how to apply them on the right platforms.

Meanwhile, Penangite Noraini Azlan Azmi said the digital workshops were beneficial for entrepreneurs to learn how to market and advertise their products.

“The modules were easy to understand and I got a lot of help on how to manage my business online,” Noraini said.

Another participant, Norul Suziyana Sulong from Terengganu, said: “I gained a lot of knowledge on how to attract and engage with customers better, as well as positioning my business on the social media.”

In facilitating dedicated workshops, eKelas Usahawan will continue to collaborate with government agencies and non-governmental organisations to attract and help more entrepreneurs and MSMEs to apply basic digital marketing knowledge and tools to their respective businesses.
