HSS gets ADB-funded Bangladesh job

Sittampalam said the partnership will place the group on the global map in terms of engineering consultancy expertise alongside other experts.

PETALING JAYA: HSS Engineers Bhd (HEB) associate HSS Integrated Sdn Bhd (HSSI), along with consortium partners Japan-based Oriental Consultants Global Co Ltd and EGIS Rail S.A. from France, have been appointed by Bangladesh Railway to provide consulting services for the Railway Connectivity Improvement Preparatory Facility project.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia yesterday, HEB stated that HSSI would earn about RM3.6mil from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) funded project.

HSSI’s scope of services include preparing feasibility studies, detailed designs, cost estimates and business plans for Bangladesh Railway.

The 30-month contract begins on Feb 14, 2023 and will be financed by HEB with internally generated funds and/or external borrowings.

HEB executive vice-chairman Tan Sri Kuna Sittampalam said the partnership will place the group on the global map in terms of engineering consultancy expertise alongside other experts.

“The scope of services is well within our skillsets in the urban transport space, particularly in mass railway networks, and we are proud to bear the Malaysian flag in such a prestigious undertaking funded by the ADB,” he stated.

HEB’s order book of RM1.6bil gives the company earnings visibility for the next five to eight years, paving the way for positive momentum in the future, he added.

The project is expected to contribute to the group’s revenue, earnings and net assets from the financial year ending Dec 31, 2023 (FY23) until FY26, HEB stated in the filing.
