IHH appoints group COO to take over ex-CEO Kelvin Loh's duties

KUALA LUMPUR: IHH Healthcare Bhd has appointed group chief operating officer (COO) Joe Sim to take over Dr Kelvin Loh’s managing director and chief executive officer (CEO) duties after the latter stepped down yesterday.

The integrated healthcare provider said the board has begun the search for a potential successor to Loh and will announce the appointment of a new CEO at the appropriate time in due course.

"Sim will cover Loh’s duties as well as continue on as the group COO. In the interim, it (the group) is working closely with Sim and the rest of the IHH management team to ensure a seamless transition,” it said in a statement today.

Sim was the CEO of the group’s Malaysia operations before being appointed as IHH’s COO on Jan 1, 2020.

He held various leadership positions in the Singapore public healthcare sectors and served across various ministries before joining the group in 2017.

IHH said in a stock exchange filing yesterday that Loh voluntarily resigned as the group’s MD and CEO with effect from Feb 22, 2023.

According to the filing, Loh, 49, was appointed as the group CEO (designate) and executive director on July 1, 2019 and assumed the position of MD and CEO on Jan 1, 2020.

He also served on the boards and board committees of IHH subsidiaries, it said. - Bernama
