PETALING JAYA: Selangor state executive councillor Datuk Teng Chang Khim has led a delegation to Taiwan to present Selangor’s uniqueness to attract potential investors, with the aim of strengthening Selangor’s status as a preferred investment location within Asean.
The Malaysian Investment Development Authority’s (Mida) Taipei office, in collaboration with Invest Selangor (the Selangor state government’s investment promotion agency), recently met with potential Taiwanese investors to update them on the state government’s ongoing efforts to build a robust business ecosystem. This includes the establishment of the Integrated Development Region in South Selangor (Idriss) under the First Selangor Plan 2021–2025 and the development of Selangor’s first Managed Industrial Park, NCT Smart Industrial Park (NSIP).
The state government has approved NSIP as one of the key projects of Idriss, after officials from NCT used the opportunity to explain the project’s concept and features to potential investors from Taiwan.
The Selangor investment delegation also met with leaders in Taiwan’s electronics industry that have bases of operations in Selangor, including Wistron Information Technology, Ally Logistic Property and Tron Energy, to better understand their projects’ implementation and further explore their potential for future investment.
According to Mida, the state rose as the top investment performer in Malaysia for the past five years, with a total of RM31.2bil in domestic direct investment and RM36.4bil in foreign direct investment.
As a result, over 1,329 projects worth more than RM304.2bil were approved for investment and 84,000 new jobs were created.
Selangor is set to accelerate its economic growth by attracting top-notch investment projects from Taiwan, as well as opening up additional chances to the benefit of Selangor’s residents.
