PETALING JAYA: Betamek Bhd’s wholly owned subsidiary Betamek Electronics (M) Sdn Bhd (BESB) has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Krakatoa Technologies Pte Ltd to explore potential collaboration to develop a battery management system-on-a-chip for electric vehicles (EV).

Krakatoa Technologies, a Singapore-based semiconductor company, conducts business as a silicon intellectual property (IP) provider using open architecture RISCV ISA, focusing on power efficiency and customisation and develops system-on-chip design for several verticals.

The electronics manufacturing services (EMS) provider, in a statement, said under the MoU, BESB and Krakatoa Technologies have jointly agreed to further discuss and negotiate on the terms and conditions of the definitive agreement for the exclusive collaboration.

Managing director Mirzan Mahathir said the collaboration with Krakatoa Technologies was consistent with the overall corporate strategy to capture opportunities to further expand its business to provide its valuable experience and know-how in the automotive EMS market.

“The MoU is expected to enhance Betamek group’s vehicle electronics product offerings and contribute positively to the company’s revenue and expand its customer base in the near future,” he added.

The MoU will be effective for a period of 12 months upon the execution and may be mutually extended by both parties.
