SEPANG: Sunsuria Bhd plans to incorporate healthcare-driven initiatives into its developments beginning with its flagship development at Sunsuria City.

The property developer launched Sunsuria Care which is an integrated platform for community-driven initiatives with Care Hub being its first project.

The company said the Care Hub will be manned by professionally qualified nurses and medical assistants under the management of a doctor, who are equipped to answer residents’ health-related enquiries either in person, by a phone call or through text messages.

“This will be parked under the healthcare division and we hope this segment can grow into a new business opportunity for us moving forward. I am very confident that this (segment) would grow in the longer term,” Sunsuria’s executive chairman Tan Sri Ter Leong Yap said at a press conference yesterday after its launch.

The first Care Hub will commence its operations at the Celebration Centre in Sunsuria City later this month and Ter said the company aims to roll out more Care Hubs in subsequent Sunsuria developments in the future.

The company also plans for the Care Hub at the Celebration Centre to be expanded into Sunsuria Medical Clinic by the end of 2023.

“We will not be dispensing medicines or drugs for the moment because this is a Care Hub. But we are looking to establish a medical clinic soon – we have to get the relevant authorities’ approvals first,” Sunsuria Healthcare’s lead medical doctor Diana Tan said.

“This initiative is to emphasise on healthcare accessibility, convenience, affordability and sustainability. Accessibility means that everyone in our community developments should have access to such basic healthcare,” Sunsuria Healthcare’s chief executive officer Audrey Ooi said.

The Care Hub will also feature a dedicated careline for house call services, it said.

“From basic nursing care, post-hospitalisation and surgical care, to wound dressing and stoma care, residents can conveniently request for these nursing services in the comfort of their own homes,” it added.

Sunsuria said the nursing services at home will be carried out by professionally trained nurses or medical assistants, who can opt to consult a medical doctor should they need further medical advice and instruction.

In the event of a medical emergency, the company said residents can contact the Care Hub nurses for immediate assistance while waiting for an ambulance to arrive.

Ooi said that this initiative would first be financed by the company for its developments in the first few years and would then be handed over to the residents’ joint management bodies and committees to handle eventually.

Moving forward, Sunsuria said it will be incorporating senior-friendly features into future developments, namely, Seni Residences in Sunsuria City, Bangsar Hill Park in Bangsar as well as upcoming developments.

This is in line with the aim of Sunsuria Care’s healthcare approach of convenience and accessibility that would be featured in Sunsuria’s properties.

“Primary healthcare is actually quite essential, so if it is permissible we hope this feature can be made available in every development in all our projects,” Ter said.
