Linda Yip is HSBC Malaysia head of wealth and personal banking

PETALING JAYA: HSBC Malaysia has appointed Linda Yip as head of wealth and personal banking (WPB) effective June 15, 2023.

Yip, who is currently the head of WPB in Taiwan, brings 25 years of experience in the finance industry across the retail, wealth management and private banking segments, the global banking group stated in a statement.

She has been a HSBC banker throughout her career and joined the group in 1997 and continued to climb the corporate ladder.

Her previous roles in the group includes head of cards and senior manager of sales and distribution before relocating to Taiwan in 2008, where she successfully led the WPB business in the region by achieving exponential growth.

Yip is also a strong advocate of talent and people development and is an executive sponsor of HSBC’s Global Graduate Trainee and Diversity and Inclusion programmes.

HSBC Malaysia chief executive officer Datuk Omar Siddiq said with Yip’s solid experience in these areas and her proven leadership qualities, HSBC looks forward to strengthening its franchise in Malaysia and scaling up business.

“Our WPB business remains committed to strengthening our international banking capabilities, enhancing our wealth proposition and accelerating our digitalisation efforts,” Omar Siddiq added.
