PETRONAS Dagangan reports over 2-fold profit jump in 1Q


KUALA LUMPUR: Petronas Dagangan Bhd (PDB) said economic recovery, upcoming festive seasons and revival of the tourism industry are expected to have a positive impact on its performance.

“Convenience segment will continue to expand in the second quarter of 2023 by growing our Café Mesra brand awareness and standalone outlets. With DuitNow QR feature we offer a seamless payment experience which will increase user acceptance of cashless transactions.

“PDB will further support its sustainability agenda with plans to install additional EV chargers as well as solar panels at PETRONAS stations in 2023,” PDB said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia.

In the first quarter ended March 31, PDB saw its net profit grow over 2-fold to RM301.8mil from RM118.5mil in the corresponding period last year.

Its earnings per share for the period rose to 30.40 sen from 11.90 sen previously.

Revenue for the quarter rose 13.5% to RM8.6bil from RM7.6bil a year prior on the back of higher sales volume by 13% and increase in average selling prices by 1%.

PDB has declared an interim dividend of 15 sen per ordinary share amounting to RM149.02mil for the first quarter, payable on June 20.
