BPMB gets environmental award


PETALING JAYA: Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Bhd (BPMB) has won the Environmental Development Award by the Association of Development Financing Institutions in Asia and the Pacific (ADFIAP), reaffirming its leading role in delivering impact capital.

In a statement, BPMB said it earned the award for its role in a green technological park development project by Nextgreen Pulp & Paper Sdn Bhd.

BPMB’s group chief executive officer Roni Abdulwahab received the recognition award at the awards night during the 46th ADFIAP Annual Meetings in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

“We are truly honoured to receive this award from ADFIAP. Not only is the project a great model of sustainable business, it creates socioeconomic benefits for the local community and related industries,” said Roni.

“As we celebrate our 50th anniversary this year, we are proud to support responsible businesses.

“We seek to enable more sustainable projects to meet our purpose of delivering impact capital for Malaysia’s development,” he added.

At the annual meetings, Roni also shared the bank’s efforts in advocating responsible banking.
