SPToto acquires RM38.78mil worth of shares in 7-Eleven and Berjaya Food


KUALA LUMPUR: Sports Toto Bhd’s (SPToto) wholly-owned subsidiary, Magna Mahsuri Sdn Bhd (MMSB) has acquired RM38.78mil worth of shares in 7-Eleven Malaysia Holdings Bhd (SEM) and Berjaya Food Bhd (BFood) via direct business transactions.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, SPToto said MMSB acquired 17.52 million shares, or 1.58% equity interest in SEM for a total cash consideration of RM34.53, or RM1.97 per share.

It also acquired 7.46 million shares representing about 0.43% equity interest in BFood for a total cash consideration of about RM4.25mil, or 57 sen a share.

“Following the acquisitions, SPToto and its subsidiaries now hold a total of about 25.42 million SEM shares representing about 2.29% equity interest in SEM and a total of about 7.46 million BFood shares representing about 0.43% equity interest in BFood,” it said.

SPToto said the acquisitions were funded through its internal funds.

“The acquisitions represented an opportunity for the SPToto Group to invest in SEM and BFood,” it added.
