Cahya Mata Sarawak to build RM750mil plant


PETALING JAYA: Cahya Mata Sarawak Bhd will be constructing a RM750mil plant in Kuching, Sarawak, with an annual capacity of 1.9 million tonnes.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the company said its wholly-owned subsidiary, Cahya Mata Cement Sdn Bhd, has received an approval to proceed with the proposed construction of a new clinker line with a daily production of 6,000 tonnes per day or 1.9 million tonnes a year.

The company said the project is expected to take 36 months to complete and meet Sarawak’s growing domestic cement demand as well as increase production efficiency that will lead to the reduction in carbon footprint and ensure continuous sustainability.
