Citaglobal to partner PETRONAS on RE applications

KUALA LUMPUR: Citaglobal Bhd has is exploring a collaboration with PETRONAS Global Technical Solutions Sdn Bhd on a wide range of renewable energy technologies and applications.

In a statement, it said it had entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the PETRONAS subsidiary for the development of battery energy storage system (BESS) applications and projects.

The technology and solutions shall be provided by Citaglobal Genetec BESS Sdn Bhd (CG BESS), a 50:50 joint venture company between Citaglobal and Genetec Technology Bhd that has developed the first Malaysian Battery Energy Storage System, MYBESS.

"This shall cover the installation of BESS to accelerate the technology advancement and green electron generation with deployment of 246 kWh of MYBESS for PETRONAS’ Center of Excellence for Renewable Energy (CEFORE).

"There will also be a joint feasibility study for scaling up BESS technology solutions in all PETRONAS existing and future facilities," said the statement.

The collaboration will also entail feasibility studies on using gas engines for flare gas recovery and other gaseous such as hydrogen, the application of waste-to-energy and heat-to-energy in PETRONAS plants and carbon capture and utilisation initiatives in PETRONAS plants.

Under the MoU, Citaglobal will work with PETRONAS to introduce technology advancements in material based formulations such as Graphene, as well as in the area of Energy Management Systems (EMS).
