KUALA LUMPUR: M & A Securities Sdn Bhd has completed its reverse takeover (RTO) of SYF Resources Bhd to list on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd.

Concurrent with the RTO exercise, SYF has also changed its name to M & A Equity Holdings Bhd (M & A Equity) to better reflect its new core business and future undertakings in the financial services industry, it said in a statement.

The company’s new stock short name will be M&A and reclassified as financial services.

M & A Securities is a the holder of a Capital Market Services License issued by the Securities Commission (SC) for dealing in securities and advising in corporate finance.

It is also a recognised principal adviser with the SC, and is an ACE Market and LEAP Market Sponsor with BursaSecurities.

It is principally a stockbroker and corporate finance adviser in Malaysia with extensive experience in securities dealing, corporate finance and advisory services. The company, through its subsidiaries, is also engaged in nominee and registration services.

Managing director Datuk Bill Tan said the listing of M & A Equity marked the start of an exciting corporate journey as it would provide greater visibility for M & A Securities, as well as open doors for the group to seek new opportunities towards becoming a diversified Malaysian financial services group in the long-term.

Moving forward, M & A Equity will explore opportunities in asset management, and look into setting up a Labuan investment bank as part of its non-organic initiatives to support long-term growth, he said.

“We believe that M & A Equity is poised to build on its existing presence and capabilities in the corporate finance space, supported by its track record of bringing a wide range of clients into the market with great success.

“The listing is a prelude to our pursuit of becoming a key player in the financial services industry, offering a wider suite of financial services to cater to the needs of Malaysia’s growing capital markets,” Tan said.

In the near term, M & A Equity intends to expand its corporate finance advisory business, intensify its client coverage activities to secure deal origination opportunities and take on more initial public offering exercises and secondary offerings, and grow its stock brokerage and margin financing business by further enhancing its online trading platform and broadening its client base beyond the small and medium enterprises market.
