KUALA LUMPUR: Solarvest Holdings Bhd through its residential solar arm, Vestech Energy Sdn Bhd, has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Selangor Industrial Corporation Sdn Bhd (SIC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Selangor (PKNS).
In a statement, the clean energy expert said the collaboration aimed to accelerate the development of residential rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) systems in Malaysia and contribute to the nation's overall clean energy goals.
Under this MoU, SIC will promote and provide residential solar solutions to PKNS employees including SIC via a salary deduction scheme, that enables them to allocate a portion of their monthly salary toward the installation of solar PV systems.
As part of the collaboration, SIC and PKNS employees will have the opportunity to benefit from the accessible and affordable financing option that eliminates the need for a significant upfront payment, making the transition to greener energy more attainable.
Solarvest executive director and group chief executive officer Davis Chong Chun Shiong said Solarvest is re committed to utilising its expertise and resources to drive the adoption of rooftop solar PV programs in the Malaysian market.
“Our collective focus also extends beyond SIC and PKNS employees by integrating solar PV systems into new housing development projects. By encouraging the adoption of clean energy solutions, we seek to facilitate a more sustainable and cost-effective energy landscape in Malaysia that benefits both individuals and the environment. Together, we aim to energise a regenerative world and shape a brighter future for generations to come," he added.
Meanwhile, SIC chief executive officer Ar Wan Muhd Hisham bin Wan Hawari said: “We are pleased to join forces with Solarvest to accelerate the development of rooftop solar PV systems in Malaysia.”
“This partnership aligns well with our commitment to sustainability, as well as our dedication to upholding environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices. Through this collaboration, we aim to empower our employees and the Malaysian public to embrace sustainable living, thereby fostering a positive impact in the country’s clean energy transition journey,” he said.
