KUALA LUMPUR: Chinese smart home products provider Aqara announced its official launch in Malaysia today in partnership with Hello Smart Sdn Bhd as its authorised distributor and service partner in Malaysia.

Aqara global sales manager Harry Zhang said that since Aqara first entered the Malaysian market in 2019, the company has witnessed back-to-back annual sales growth of 100 per cent.

He said the remarkable achievement speaks to the strong demand for Aqara’s revolutionary smart home solutions, including home monitoring systems, door locks and security cameras.

"By bringing the best of what Aqara has to offer, we believe Aqara can ride the growth of Malaysia’s smart home market, which is expected to be worth RM2.7 billion by 2027.

"We choose Malaysia because we have a set of products which are suitable for the South East Asian market. Secondly, Hello Smart is our really good partner as they are so passionate about smart homes, professional in (providing) installation services and have a very strong distribution channel.

"We expect to double our sales growth this year compared to last year,” he told reporters after the launching ceremony.

Besides, Aqara is kicking off its entry into Malaysia with the launch of four new ground-breaking smart home products, namely the Magic Switch S1E, the Door and Window Sensor P2, the Smart Face Recognition Door Lock D200i and the Lighting Pro Smart Home Solution.

According to research firm Statista, Malaysia’s smart home market is still at an early stage of growth, with total smart home device sales estimated at RM1.25 billion in 2022, and just one out of ten homes in Malaysia, or 13.8 per cent, have a smart home device.

"This figure is set to nearly double by 2027, rising to 26 per cent as market awareness accelerates, the cost of smart devices drops, and the technology’s capabilities increase.

"This higher penetration rate is expected to lead to smart home device annual sales more-than-doubling to RM2.7 billion in 2027,” it added. - Bernama
