Miti finalising NIMP 2030, PM to launch plan end-August

TASEK GELUGOR (PENANG): The Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti) is finalising the New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2030, which is expected to be launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the end of next month.

Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz said it would be a comprehensive framework covering the mission, priority and action plan to transform the country’s industrial sector.

“I can share that discussions (on the plan) until now are the most comprehensive that we have ever carried out because they involve new industries and other ministries.

“As the prime minister acknowledged in the Madani Economy, he has illustrated that the plan would not exclusively focus on basic sectors.

“NIMP 2023 will be a part of the industrial transformation that will hopefully help grow the economy in line with the established benchmarks,” he told a press conference after officiating Miti Day 2023 here yesterday.

Tengku Zafrul added that bilateral discussions with industry players are needed to complete the plan.

He said the industrial transformation is aimed at creating new wealth sources that would increase economic complexity, spur sustainable economic growth, create high-quality job opportunities and also improve living standards to be more prosperous.

Commenting on Miti Day 2023, themed “Perkasa Industri, Maju Ekonomi”, Tengku Zafrul said it featured a career exploration programme which offered 2,500 job opportunities to job seekers and youths from foreign and local companies. — Bernama
