PETALING JAYA: Southern Cable Group Bhd has received a contract extension worth RM332.14mil from Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) for the supply and delivery of various sizes of underground cables and conductors for the latter’s distribution network division.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Southern Cable said the contract period shall be for a duration of one year, commencing from July 15, 2023 until July 14, 2024, unless it is terminated earlier.

“Together with the new win, Southern Cable has secured more than RM500mil new wins year-to-date, comprising more than RM460mil worth of supply contracts secured from TNB and an RM44.8mil battery systems supply contract from Telekom Malaysia Bhd, it said.

The cable and wire manufacturer said the year-to-date wins have surpassed the total win of RM390mil achieved in 2022.

In a separate statement, the cable and wire manufacturer said its current orders in hand of more than RM1bil are set to be delivered until 2026, encompassing mainly the supply of cables and wires to various industries, in addition to the supply of rectifier and battery systems, and other related products.

Managing director Tung Eng Hai said the enlarged orders in hand further reinforced its position as a leading cable and wire manufacturer, supporting strong momentum to strengthen our earnings.

“We are also experiencing steady demand from other customers, comprising EPCC contractors and resellers. Capitalising on the current market conditions, we aim to seize opportunities for growth,” he added.
