Export opportunities for SMEs through Mihas

Mohd Mustafa said through INSP Mihas 2023, local companies can also look forward to connecting with 11 premium buyers from Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Qatar, Turkiye, United Kingdom, France and Australia.

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia External Trade Development Corp (Matrade) has exceeded its target of international buyers registered for the flagship International Sourcing Programme (INSP) at the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (Mihas) 2023.

Hosted by the Investment, Trade, and Industry Ministry and organised by the Matrade, Mihas is a showcase dedicated to the halal industry.

This year marks its 19th series.

Matrade chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz said the higher turnout of international buyers in the INSP indicates that Mihas is a trusted platform in sourcing for high-quality halal products and services.

“This opens up new export opportunities for Malaysian companies, particularly small and medium enterprises to conveniently link with serious foreign buyers,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Comprising pre-arranged one-to-one business meetings, both physical and virtual, INSP Mihas connects international buyers with Malaysian suppliers of halal products and services.

INSP Mihas 2023 will host more than 470 buyers from 40 countries including from the Middle East, Europe, Central Asia, South Asia, South-East Asia, Oceania, the Americas and Africa, according to the statement.

Mohd Mustafa said through INSP Mihas 2023, local companies can also look forward to connecting with 11 premium buyers from Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Qatar, Turkiye, United Kingdom, France and Australia.

“These buyers represent some of the largest conglomerates, retailers and supermarkets in these countries.

“Last year’s INSP Mihas connected 510 local companies with 389 international buyers, generating deals worth RM745.2mil for Malaysian exporters,” Mohd Mustafa said in the statement.

“We expect an equally successful programme this year.

“We encourage local businesses not to miss this lucrative opportunity to expand their exports into new markets by meeting foreign buyers through this programme,” he added.

The physical INSP will be held on Sept 11 at Menara Matrade in Kuala Lumpur, according to the statement.

The virtual INSP is being held online from March 20 until Nov 30.

Registration and participation is free-of-charge.
