KUALA LUMPUR: Koperasi Bersatu Tenaga Malaysia Bhd (Kobeta) has signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) with University of Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) to provide accommodation and facilities for students at two higher learning institutes.
In a statement, Kobeta said the pioneer project began in 2014 when both parties used the house rental of tenancy agreement to offer eight residential units to students.
It added that in the last five years, the accommodation, its facilities and transportation systems have been evaluated and subsequently improved.
Noting the difficulties in obtaining accommodation and transportation that is affordable in the city, Kobeta hopes that UniHome will be the students’ first choice.
“To target a larger market, Kobeta has taken proactive measures by increasing the agreement period and the number of available accommodation facilities,” it said.
With the new agreement, Kobeta said it would help students, parents, university and the college management while improving the industry’s quality of accommodation.
Kobeta’s goal is to become the leading provider of accommodation in the education sector.
“We aim to provide accommodation facilities for up to 5,000 residential units in total over the next five years,” it noted.
